I Want My Hour Back!!!

disclaimer:  This is an annual whine I have about Daylight Saving Time.  It is a whine and is not intended to take attention away from the poor people of Japan for whom I am praying. . .

I seriously do not understand why we put ourselves through the torture of Daylight Saving Time!!  I understand what the original intended purpose was, but it has been proven that it actually does not save anything on electricity nor does it increase productivity at all.  In fact, the only true outcome is that people lose an hour of sleep.  Okay, we'll get it back in the Fall, but why do this to ourselves???

I know a lot of people love that we have a little more daylight in the evening. . .something that will occur naturally anyway, but I was really liking that we had so much nice sun in the morning on the way to school and work!  Now it will be dark again. . .

We get up and go to bed at the same time everyday so it really isn't going to change our schedule any.  It will just be darker in the morning and lighter in the evening.  Of course, because I lost that hour of sleep, I won't be able to enjoy that extra daylight in the evening because I'll be looking at the backs of my eyelids!!!

Soon I'll be going upstairs to wake my young son up, who didn't go to sleep until after 10:00 last night because he wasn't ready to sleep yet.  It will not be pretty.  I almost feel sorry for his teachers today. . .and they will have 24 4 and 5 year olds who lost an hour of sleep. . .yikes!!!

sigh. . . . .

In other news, Aidan started his Hockey 2 lessons yesterday.  I took a lot of video of it and will upload some later in the week.  He's really improved!!  I was very impressed.  And he was playing on our pipestem over the weekend with his little hockey stick, puck and goal and I was very impressed listening to him explain how to handle the stick and then to see him move the puck across the driveway!  Wow!  I think the kid is truly a natural.  I'll have to get some video of that too.
