Adventures with our Russian American son
Wonderful video!!! All of those children are Angles!
Nice, who put this one together?
Dear Stacy,I have been following your blog for a while, but never really commented before. In this particular case I could not help it, as I feel very strongly on this issue. First of all- what a wonderful video! Very touching, and a great illustration of what a great thing adoption is. Secondly, I wanted to tell you that many people in Russia are just as outraged as you are over this disgraceful and shameful law. In fact, thousands went out on the streets of Moscow yesterday to protest, and I just wanted to give you a link to a Russian newspaper with photos from this protest: http://www.novayagazeta.ru/photos/56218.html . I don't believe you speak russian, but the majority of the signage used is very uncomplimentary to the entire Duma (they had a poster for each Duma member branding him a "подлец"- google translates that as "scoundrel" or "reprobate", but in fact the word is far harsher, indicating that the subject is without honor and conscience and is capable of betrayal and other low deeds), in addition to signs that address the adoption and children, such as "Mother has no nationality", "Will sell a baby to a Duma member for breakfast", "Children need families, instead of bureaucratic "love"", as well as a number of posters branding Putin as Herod. So please know that a great many people in Russia, including myself, are very much ashamed that we have a parliament that could pass such a law, and a president that would sign it. Wishing the best to you and your family!Alena
