Just When I Was Getting Antsy. . .

Just when I was getting antsy about it, an envelope arrived in our mail yesterday from the Virginia State Department of Health. . .inside was:

Aidan's Commonwealth of Virginia Certificate of Foreign Birth!!!!  Yippee!!!  It's all officially official now and we can relax and breathe a sigh of relief:
*that we don't have to pull out the Russian Birth Certificate anymore and risk losing it.
*that we don't have to pull out the Russian Birth Certificate anymore and explain all about Aidan's birth.
*that we don't have to pull out the Russian Birth Certificate anymore and risk seeing the strange looks on the faces of the people we have to show it to.

Yeah. . .And now, in six months, when we register Aidan for Kindergarten, we can pull out the new Certificate of Foreign Birth!!!

And, how funny and strange is this, but the Certificate of Foreign Birth arrived exactly 3 years, to the day, after our paperwork was sent to Russia to be translated and registerd. . .

I just found your blog. We are in Virginia Beach and are about to start the process to get our son a birth certificate. Did you use a local lawyer or have any advise? Thank you!
